Building the Culture of Life Among Hispanics
Human Life International (HLI) is engaged in a worldwide mission to promote and defend the sanctity of life and family, consistent with the teachings of the magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
HLI is a non-profit, educational organization, founded in 1980 by Fr. Paul Marx OSB, Ph.D. Today, HLI is a leading force in the defense of life, faith and family around the world.
Vida Humana Internacional (VHI) is the Hispanic Division of HLI working in 22 countries of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and among Hispanics in the U.S. VHI affiliates carry out a life-saving work of prevention, education and service in their countries.
VHI is strategically based in Miami, Florida, which is the gateway to the Americas.
VHI promotes and protects the precious gift of life given to all by God, the Author of Life,
from the moment of conception to the time of natural death through service, advocacy and education.
VHI offers loving
solutions to women who face a crisis pregnancy through the Aid to Women Network which provides training and support to volunteers, so they can open Crisis
Pregnancy Centers throughout Latin America.
VHI promotes the ministry
of post-abortion healing by offering training and resources for those who want to minister to women who
have suffered because of abortion.
VHI promotes chastity education for the youth and the natural methods of spacing children to married couples, according to the teachings of the Catholic Church, by offering educational tools such as brochures, through its website in Spanish for teens at www.soloparajovenes.org ("For the youth only") and by supporting various programs of its affiliates.
VHI protects families from hedonistic sex-education programs that take away parents’ rights as first
educators and protectors of their children, through the advocacy work of its affiliates.
VHI promotes the pastoral care of those with homosexual inclinations
so they can live chaste lives, according to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
VHI proclaims the
gospel of life through weekly radio and television programs;
a bilingual website (Spanish and English) with an extensive online library of articles and news items on all the life issues; a series of brochures and
videos; and printed and electronic publications.
Hispanic Outreach in the U.S.
VHI is the oldest, largest and most experienced pro-life/family Hispanic outreach in the nation, with over 20 years of grassroots efforts.
Many sidewalk counselors, crisis pregnancy centers and Hispanic ministries around the country, call on VHI to provide effective pro-life materials in Spanish. VHI collaborates with other US pro-life organizations to organize seminars and training sessions for Hispanics and is a leader in providing information in Spanish on Planned Parenthood in the US and all over the Hispanic world.
