Almost every pro-lifer has heard of Human Life International (HLI), the world's largest pro-life/family organization; but has everyone heard about Vida Humana Internacional (VHI), HLI's Hispanic Outreach? For those who aren't familiar with this very busy arm of HLI, here is some general information about who we are and what we do.

Vida Humana Internacional's office in Miami is headed by Mrs. Magaly Llaguno, one of the first to ever make contact with Latin America for the purpose of uniting Hispanics in the battle against abortion. Mrs. Llaguno founded her own organization, "Comité Provida" and for over 15 years worked out of her home on a volunteer basis. She joined HLI in 1984 to start HLI's Hispanic Outreach Office.

Vida Humana Internacional (VHI) does a wide variety of pro-life/family work, but it's main function is to operate as a communications network for thousands of pro-life/family groups and individuals throughout the Hispanic world. This includes being a resource center for information, educational materials, strategies and guidance. VHI has frequently put individuals and/or groups from different countries in contact with each other for the purpose of uniting resources to combat attacks on human life at all of its stages of development.

VHI serves as a resource center for the Hispanic community, both in the U.S. and abroad, preparing subject and organizational dossiers which are made available to Hispanic leaders. Much of the wealth of information that is available from U.S. pro-life groups is translated into Spanish, including the powerful video, "The Great Population Hoax", which VHI translated and helped dub into Spanish. VHI provides Hispanics with a list of pro-life videos and audios, books, and a catalog listing over 70 excellent brochures on a wide variety of topics relating to life and family.

VHI sends hundreds of packets of information to seminaries, bishops, schools, colleges, groups and individuals throughout the U.S. and Latin America. Our materials are used worldwide through a variety of media, including a radio station in Chimbote, Peru, which regularly broadcasts the audio tapes from our Hispanic conferences. A bishop visiting from San Juan, Argentina, informed us that our newsletter is read on the air there at a Catholic radio station.

VHI publishes a Spanish newsletter: Escoge la Vida ("Choose Life"), which circulates among thousands of Hispanics world-wide, and features issues like abortion, sex "education", feminism, etc.

VHI is also involved in promoting post-abortion counseling groups and providing post-abortion packets in Spanish both in the U.S. and Latin America.
