The director of HLI’s affiliate ProvidaFamilia, Humberto L. Vieira, has called for letters of protest from the international pro-life community to stop a heinous practice of a sector of the Public Ministry Department in Brasilia, D.F.. The service, headed by Dr. Diaulas Costa Ribeiro, operates under the name of "Pro-Life" but refers pregnant women to abortion if their babies are diagnosed with any abnormality. However, Brazil’s Criminal Code penalizes abortion in those cases. Therefore, the abortion referrals are not only immoral, but illegal as well!
