El número de abortos aumenta una vez que éstos son legalizados


 

Aclaración: El asterisco (*) indica el año de la legalización del aborto en todo el país. Hay que tener en cuenta que en algunos países el aborto fue legalizado primero en algunos de sus estados o regiones (v.gr., EEUU). Observaciones generales importantes:

 

1. En un trabajo tan limitado como éste, hemos escogido estos países por las siguientes razones:

 

España – Por representar a Europa y por ser, evidentemente, de habla española.

 

EEUU – Por representar a la América del Norte y por ser un “líder” mundial del aborto.

 

Australia – Por representar a Oceanía.

 

Polonia – Por su contraste con los otros tres países abortistas y, de hecho, con los demás países abortistas del mundo. Véase la próxima observación.

 

2. En el caso de EEUU, Australia y España, se observa un claro patrón de aumento del número total de los abortos, una vez que éste es legalizado. En el caso de Polonia, sin embargo, es al revés, el número total de abortos disminuye considerablemente una vez que éste es ilegalizado. Véase también la observación que hemos presentado en la nota [8].

3. En el caso de EEUU y Australia, también se observa que el creciente número de abortos, después de haber sido éste legalizado, alcanzó una cifra pico, y luego ha descendido un poco durante los últimos años, pero sigue siendo mayor que el de antes de la legalización. Los abortistas dicen que ese descenso relativo se debe a la difusión a gran escala de los anticonceptivos. Pero eso no es cierto. De hecho, la realidad demuestra lo contrario: mientras más difundida está la anticoncepción, más abortos tienden a ocurrir [10]. Además, el número de abortos causados por los anticonceptivos abortivos supera, y por mucho, el número de abortos quirúrgicos [11].

 

De manera que tenemos que concluir que las razones principales por las cuales el número de abortos se ha venido reduciendo son: (1) la labor provida, tanto la educativa y la legislativa, como la asistencial (centros de ayuda a la mujer), y (2) el hecho de que el aborto mismo (tanto el quirúrgico como el farmacológico), ha causado una implosión demográfica en los países afectados por este grave mal [12].

[8]. Ese fue el año en que se aprobó una ley prohibiendo el aborto (lamentablemente no lo prohibe en todos los casos), que había sido legal en ese país desde 1955 bajo el régimen ruso. La prensa y la ONU protestaron y dijeron que esa ley contraria al aborto causaría un aumento del aborto clandestino, con más riesgos para la madre. No podían estar más equivocados. Para 1999, el número de abortos había descendido a 250 (entre legales e ilegales). El número de mujeres hospitalizadas por pérdidas bajó de 59.454 a 44.185. El número total de complicaciones por embarazos y nacimientos descendió de 178 a 144 por cada 10.000 mujeres. De 1996 a 1999 [la fuente de estas observaciones, ver más abajo, es del 2000], ninguna mujer ha muerto a causa del aborto, legal o ilegal. Los bebés prematuros nacen a menudo de mujeres que han abortado anteriormente y mueren con más frecuencia. En los últimos 10 años el número de esas muertes neonatales ha disminuido de 19 a 9,6.
